The Miramichi salmon Association hosted its second annual Miramichi
Salmon Classic, a four day event with three days of salmon angling on the Miramichi River from July 15 - 18, 2007.
Participants experienced fishing the Little South West Miramichi,
Renous, Dungarvon, Main South West Miramichi and many other classic tributaries with MSA volunteers. The event got underway on Sunday evening, July 15 with
registration, “meet and greet” and gala banquet at the Rodd Miramichi River Inn. A delicious roast beef
buffet dinner was enjoyed by 140 guests followed by an exciting live auction. We express our sincere appreciation to
all donors for the very generous gifts offered to our raffle, live and silent auctions. The event would not
have been the success it was without the support and generosity of the many individuals and businesses who donated items;
we sincerely thank you. It was a pleasure to have Ian and Glenda Powell of Ireland with us who so very generously
donated to the live auction a one week fishing trip for two at their Blackwater Lodge on the famous
Cork Blackwater River in Upper Ballyduff, Ireland.
Participants also enjoyed a complimentary
lunch on Monday at Upper Oxbow Adventures Lodge in Upper Oxbow and were treated to a fly casting demonstration
by Glenda Powell. On Tuesday, lunch was provided by Nine Pine Restaurant in Blackville to give participants
a chance to socialize and exchange fishing stories. A free pass to local attractions such as the Miramichi Salmon Conservation Centre, the Woodsmen Museum and Atlantic Salmon Museum
were also provided to participants.
MSA was very pleased to host this event again this year, and look
forward to repeating it annually. It is a wonderful opportunity for anglers, whether novice or experienced, to
enjoy what the Miramichi River has to offer. We thank them for being with us!
