Get Involved

Programs
The Miramichi Salmon Association has professional staff employed to conduct many of the programs to protect and enhance salmon stocks on the Miramichi.  The greatest asset to the organization, however, is the many volunteers that give their time and efforts to raise money, debate issues and conduct programs.  We invite MSA members to become actively involved in the organization by participating in an activity that fits their abilities and schedule.

Field Activities
The MSA conducts field programs where members can observe or participate, these include counting smolts on the smolt wheels or traps, electrofishing, collecting adult salmon for spawning and breaching beaver dams in fall.  No experience is necessary, you just have to enjoy being outdoors.  If you are interested in volunteering with our field programs contact Mark Hambrook at 622-4000 or msamark@nb.aibn.com.

Youth Programs
The MSA strives to get youth involved in fishing and developed a First Cast Youth Fishing Program in 2010 and an art contest though the local schools on the watershed.  Click on Youth Programs to find out more about the programs that are available.  Contact Nola at 622-4000 or msanola@nb.aibn.com for more information.

Dinner Committees
The major revenue source for MSA activities is our fundraising dinners and auction.  Dinners are held at various times of the year in a variety of locations including Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton, Hartland, Boiestown, Miramichi and Boston.   Call the Fredericton office at 506 457-2220 to get involved in any of the dinner committees.

Miramichi Salmon Classic
The Miramichi Salmon Classic is a three day fishing event run by the Miramichi Salmon Association to introduce anglers to fishing on the Miramichi River.  We are often looking for volunteer guides and people that would donate the use of their pool for a morning or evening.  If you are interested in volunteer guiding or allowing participants to fish in your pool contact Mark Hambrook at 622-4000 or msamark@nb.aibn.com.
